Significance of leading plus sign in formula

I have a project to develop a VB.NEt calculator to replace an existing EXCEL program,

I have used EXCEL forever, but never come across the following before:

I am wondered if there is any significance in teh '+' sign preceeding the equation?

(its a little hard nailing what to search for in help on this sort of issue)

'=+D11-0.2'
'=+D38/D26'
'=+D39*0.15'

What concerns me is that they are not using this consistently throughout the excel sheet.

My memory is a little vague on this but I think the leading '+' is a hangover from the old Lotus days where you could beginning entering a formula with + instead of =.
Some accountants I know still use this method in Excel.
(It's quicker when just using the numeric keypad)

As the previous post said, it has no sginificance, it's just a slightly aged way of entering formulae.
