Problems Deleting Tabs in Excel 2007 Workbook

I have an Excel Worksheet that I have currently saved in both 2003 and 2007 versions that will not allow me to delete tabs in a workbook. When I attempt to delete the tabs by either right clicking on them or going to the home tab and clicking on "delete cells" and then "delete worksheet", these delete options do not highlight. The only things that are highlighting are "View Code", "Protect Worksheet", and "Select all Sheets". Any suggestions of how to delete them?
