    If conditional formatting?

    is it possible to do this?

    what i want to do is say:

    If A1="" then color B1 and C1 black, basically turning those cells off

    Select B1:C1 and go to Home tab.. Conditional Formatting and select New Rule

    Select Use a formula to determine which cells to format

    then enter formula =$A$1=""

    Click Format and choose Black from the Fill tab.
    Where there is a will there are many ways.
