    locking cells

How do I lock individual cells so that the formulas in them cannot be altered?

    Thanks.

    Re: locking cells

First you have to unlock the worksheet you are working on only do this if you want people to still be able to change somethings on the sheet but not mess up your formulas
-Click the square in the upper left hand corner above 1, and to the left of A. This will select the entire workbook
    -Right click, Format cells
    -Click Protection
    -Uncheck the Locked box

Select the cells you want to restrict
-Highlight cells you want to lock
    -Right click, Format cells
    -Click Protection
    -Check mark Locked box
This will lock the cells only when the page is protected.

    Across the top row select
    -Tools
    -Protection
    -Protect sheet
-You can make a password or it can be blank
While protection is enabled all locked cells will not be altered

In XL2007 go to the Review Tab in the Ribbon and select Protect Sheet
Where there is a will there are many ways.
