Pivot table Interpreting Same category as two separate categories

Hi there, hope someone can help!

I am using a pivot table to summarise information with a list of tonnes and sources from civic amenity sites. All was fine until I got to this month to do monthly reports. The pivot table appears to be treating what appears to be exactly the same categories of "CIVIC" and "TRANSFER" differently. By this I mean that although the values in the column appears to be "CIVIC" or "TRANSFER", some get treated differently in the pivot table making it pretty useless. I have made sure that all spellings of the words are the same. there are no spaces before or after the word e.g " CIVIC" but to no avail! Anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I am using a user defined range to only use records where values exist.

    Thanks very much

Not sure if I can help, but posting a sample showing the problem would help to diagnose the problem...

... also, your title should be more descriptive of the problem... it is vague.

    Re: Pivot table connundrem

    Hi,

Thanks for replying. Yes it is a bit vague, I was having trouble thinking of a title to descrive the 'problem'. I have attached a very small snippit of the information I am dealing with, with the pivot table on the next tab. As you can see it has treated "CIVIC" as 2 separate categories. Any ideas?

I am going to feel a trifle silly if the problem is obvious!

Thanks for your help in advance

Thumbs up Re: Pivot table Interpreting Same category as two separate categories

Lol! In the end I hadn't checked that issue properly had I! Thanks very much, seems obvious now. Also managed to use find and replace to fix the problem permanently so very quickly solved

    Regards,

    Mike
