Question Find/Replace on a protected sheet

I have a file with several protected sheets. Some of the cells on the protected sheets are unprotected. The users of this file would like to be able to do a find/replace of the unprotected data on this protected sheet. However, when we do, it doesn't allow it and says the sheet is protected. Is there a way to allow this?

Re: Find/Replace on a protected sheet

In order for the Excel Find feature to do its job it has to search all cells on the worksheet or selected range. Thus, if it finds locked cells and the sheet is protected it will do exactly as you have experienced. There is no way around this that I know of.

Even if you use a VBA approach you will have to unprotect the sheet to run a search macro and the reapply protection.
