Creating Linked Documents With Master Document Updating Second.

    Hi,

I am a golf pro. I am trying to solve a problem whereby golf tee booking times are getting double booked as there are more than 1 ways to book a tee-time. The club secretary is responsible for taking bookings from visiting parties and reserves the tee. If this information is not passed to me then I may allocate the same time to another person.

    I would like to:-

Create a document that the secretary can use to enter information onto and when this happens my document is updated with that information to avoid double bookings.

It needs to run on a calendar year basis.

If I need to prepare more info please let me know.

    Kindest Regards
    David.

    Hi,

Where are these two documents held? On the same PC or are they available across a network by you and the secretary?

It seems to me that the ideal solution is to have a single document which you both access.

Failing that you'll need a macro to extract and pass details to you so that you can import bookings to your workbook. The simplest arrangement would be a macro in the secretary's workbook which automatically extracted and saves a simple file of dates and times every time he closed his workbook, and immediately after saving the macro whould generate an automatic email to you attaching the file in the process. Your system would then have a macro to import this file and update your list.

We'd need to see specific layouts to advise further, but that's the general approach I'd adopt. As I say it would be far simpler with just one workbook.
