    Conditional Formatting Of Table

    I have a table that I sort by the first column. The first column has section numbers, and I'd like for each section to alternate in colours so users can easily see the end of one section and the beginning of another. I've attached a screenshot of what it should look like visually, as well as a sample Excel chart.

    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Check here for instructions:

    http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/condfmt.htm

    Look for section entitled:

    Color Grouping with alternating colors (#grouping)
    Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Set conditional format to :

    =(MOD($A2,2)=0)

    or

    =(MOD($A2,2)=1)

    depending on if you want odd or even numbers highlighting!

    or one of each!

    I think that highlights every other row... not what the OP is looking for.. they want every other group of like items...

    My apologies... you are correct...

    I thought I saw the variant...=(MOD(ROW(),2)=0)

    which is meant to highlight every other row...
