    Cell formatting customization

    Hi guys 1ce again i m stuck somewhere, i have a cell (c1) containing simple formula like (a1*b1) i want the value to be displayed as for eg : 35.66* but my problem is i want only * to be in red color, i tried #,##0.00"*" to add * to my value but i am unable to give red color to the *, can anyone pls suggest some solution. Thanks in advance.

    [Red]0.00 "*";[Red]0.00 "*"

    I am fairly sure it can't be done using the 'Format | cells...' menu.

    It may be possible to do something via a macro but unfortunately I am not a macro specialist.
    Excel 365 user. To unblock a downloaded macro-enabled workbook, go to your "Downloads" folder > right click on the workbook name > click 'Properties' > check the 'Unblock' checkbox. You can now open the workbook.

    its pretty simple ..... select C1 now go in format>Cell>Number>Custom> in TYPE bar paste the code ......

    [Red]0.00 "*";[Red]0.00 "*"

    Mubashir, it doesn't work. Your suggestion is causing the entire cell to turn red. The Op wants this:

    35.66*

    ...just the star in red.
