Pivot Table - Difference Between Totals

Hi There, i wonder if anyone can help please. Below is an example of a pivot table i am using. What i would like to be able to do is instead of the Total column showing the sum, i would like it to show the difference (+/-) (ie instead of showing 134,526 to show 74138)

    Can it be done?

    Group Name 2008 2009 Total 2008 2009 Total
    Beers 104,332 30,194 134,526 107,533 63,518 171,051
    Ciders & Alco-pops 5,120 1,110 6,230 5,431 3,329 8,760

    Many Thanks
    Regards

    Nick

It would be best to up load a sample workbook. You want to show the difference of what? Total of 2009 vs 2008?

You will need to create a calculated field where you subtract the total of 2008 from the total of 2009, or which ever sequence is correct for your needs.

Just to clarify, i need the total column to show the variance between 2008 & 2009 not the sum.

    Cheers

If your year and month fields are the result of grouping a date field, then you won't be able to use a calculated item; if they are actual columns in the source data, then you can add a calculated item that is '2009'-'2008' and it will display the difference for each month/year grouping.
Incidentally, whilst a picture is worth a thousand words, on an Excel help forum, a workbook is usually worth a thousand pictures...
