# multiplication formula in excel

hai,

i am a new user. i would like to know the following in excel worksheet.

i have a value in particular cell which is a variable. i would like to multiply the value with a column containing certain values and the product of above shall be displayed in other column.

for example '8' is the variable in one cell.

7

are the values in one column.

result shall be

24
32
40
48
56

if i change the variable as '9'

the result shall be

27
36
45
54
63

how to achieve this thro' an excel formula?

can anybody help me?

With the original values in A2:A6, the formula in B2:B6, and the multiplier in C2 - enter in this formula in B2 and copy down to the bottom of the range:

=A2*\$C\$2

Put 8 in A1.
Put the other multipliers in column B.
In C1 put the formula:
``Please Login or Register  to view this content.``
Select cell C1 and notice the small black square at the lower right hand corner; double click it (Alternatively, notice that when you put the mouse on the square, that the cursor changes to a black cross. You may click and drag the cursor down the desired number of rows.)
