    Ran out of Cells?

Hi Guys, just been making a new basic production plan for use at work.

I was just happily copying and inserting cells with a view to expanding each tab to hold one weeks worth of planning when I ran out of cells

I'm sure this is something ridiculously easy to solve but I can't for the life of me figure out why it is happening.

I still need to put Saturday & Sunday in and this is holding me up

Anyone know how to resolve this.

    Many Thanks

    Martyn

PS. this is office 2007 but I have saved it as office 2003

    If you're talking about columns, 2003 will accommodate 256 and 2007 1024 ( I think)

Anyway, at first glance you would be better off with MS project or something like that.
XL is not very good at the kind of thing you seem to want

Excel 2007 in native mode (rather than compatibility mode) has 16,384 columns. Save the file as an xlsx, close, and reopen to see them all.

Or you could transopose the table so tasks go across the columns at top and dates down the rows at left.

Hi mate. Thanks for the help on this. If I do as you say will I still be able to open the file in excel 2003 with all the columns still being present?

No; versions of Excel prior to 2007 support 256 columns.

Ahh, this is my problem, they are all still using 2003 at work at this is going onto the server so they can all read it and my team can keep it updated.

You have been a great help guys, at least I now know what the problem was

    Best Regards
