Formula to move contents from one cell to the next

I'm working on a speadsheet that has thousands of line items with lots of great information, but not in the fields I need them to be in. Is there a formula to move for example cell contents A26 to B25 and D26 to F27? Also I have contents in one cell that I need to break apart is there a formula for that too? I searced the help and the net an came up with nothing. Maybe I'm not wording it correctly, but I'd appreciate the help.

What I've done in cases like these is, in cell in B25, just put '=A26'

    A26 to B25 and D26 to F27
    Should this be F25 instead?

If that's the case, you can just fill in all the cells, then copy the values into a new sheet, then paste them back in the same spot. You can then get rid of your values in row 26.

If that's confusing let me know

If I do it that way then when I get rid of A26 since it's pulling from this cell B25 goes away too. I'm wanting to move the contents from one cell to another cell.

In A25 I have a name and in A26 there is a phone number and I'm wanting that phone number to be in the cell next (B25) to the name and not underneath the name if it were just a few no big deal i'd move them one by one but I have thousands to move. Maybe there is not such an animal in formulas.

When you say it goes away, what do you mean? Are you saying that when you delete the contents of cell A26, that B25 also is empty? This is because B25 is referencing the contents of A26, which is why if you copy B25, etc, and then paste the 'Values' (paste special, otherwise it'll paste the forumula in there) and then paste it back to where you need it, you should still retain the information in there.

If you're still having issues, perhaps you could upload a dummy sample and I can take a look at it, since I'm confused otherwise.
