Variable File Name Link

Is there a way to embed a variable filename for a cell link to another excel file? In a monthly report spreadsheet I would like to automatically pull data from the previous month. I can determine the month name (i.e. January, February, etc.) but not sure how to use this in the link to pull from the correct file. Any ideas?

maybe the INDIRECT function s what you are looking for?

INDIRECT may well work but note the Function requires the target file be open else error will be returned... if you have closed files you may want to check out Laurent Longre's morefunc.xll and specifically the INDIRECT.EXT function.

Failing the above realistically you're looking at VBA...
