how to do a find & select in a protected work sheet

I have a column that has locked and protected. What I am looking for is a way to keep the cells locked and protected but to be able to do a find and select. What I have is column B has serial numbers so I want to protect them from being altered or deleted and still need to be able to look them up.

Are you saying that you can't use Excel's "Find" function (CNTRL F)? That should work, even on protected worksheets. Can you give more info?

I have column B locked and protected but I can not do a find & select for column B because is locked. I have serial numbers in my column B so I do not want the information to change that is why is locked and protected but still need to do a Find and Select.

Re: how to do a find & select in a protected work sheet

I have columns A & B locked and the work sheet is protected, however when the worksheet is protected I can not do a CTRL F for either column. Both columns have a formula for each cell that brings information to the cells from another worksheet and column A has a hyperlink so when I lock cells I can not do a find or hyperlink when worksheet is protected, but I am needing to do a find for either column without being able to change data or formula for that cell while the worksheet is protected.

Are you the one that created this spreadsheet? What you need to do is, when you lock it, make sure that "select locked cells" and "select unlocked cells" is checked as options. Then the Find function should work. Does that help?

yes I am the one that created the worksheet, sorry but no did not help, the problem is when I leave the cells unlocked and then protect the worksheet. Others are still able to change the cell value or formula. I am needing to protect the values but still do a find and a hyperlink when the cells are locked
