    Talking Sum Formula

    Hi,

    I'm trying to write the following formula

    =sum(a1/1.2)-d9/(a1/1.2)

    which basically calculates the value in A1 (Divided by 20%) minus the value in D9 with the calculated figure divided again by the value in A1 (Divided by 20%)

    I just can't seem to get it calculate correctly

    Any help would be gratefully received

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Sum Formula

    Hi ZHB, welcome to the forum.

    Perhaps this will work?

    =(A1/1.2)-(D9/(A1/1.2))

    Re: Sum Formula

    Thanks Paul, but it didn't seem to give the answer i need.

    What it should be calculating is the following:

    A1 = 150
    D9= 90

    So 150/1.2 = 125
    125 - 90 = 35
    35 / 125 (The value 0f A1 / 1.2) = 0.28

    Using the formula from Paul gives me 124.28

    Can anyone see where its going wrong

    Thanks again

    Ah, order of operations is messed up..

    Try: =((A1/1.2)-D9)/(A1/1.2)
