    Question selection variant

    Hello I have a table with 3 columns
    A B C
    123 1 aaaaa
    123 2 bbbbb
    123 3 ccccccc
    456 1 xxxxx
    456 2 ffffffff
    789 1 kkkkk
    333 1 jjjjjjjjjjj
    333 2 yyyyy
    333 3 rrrrrrrr
    333 4 ppppp

    i want to make a selection of the highest counter(B) of each numner in column A

    result:

    123 3 ccccccc
    456 2 ffffffff
    789 1 kkkkk
    333 4 ppppp

    can somebody help me with this

    I think it would be best to just use the sort feature of the data menu than to trouble yourself with lotza codes. Sort 'em according to Column B then Column A both ascending then you can find out what you want and pick 'em up manually or do a vba utilizing the Find Method.

    Manually is no option because there are more then 10.000 records
    is there another way?

    use advanced filter to get an unique list of column A
    if they are really laid out like that with col c always having a 1,2,3,4..... version i.e 333 1 jjjjj ,333 2 jjjj then use version using count if.
    if missing some i.e 333 1 jjjj,333 3 jjjj
    use maxif array version

    or use advanced filter with criteria see second attachment
