Question references to password protected sheets

I have a big spreadsheet wit lots of links to others spreadsheets (with data). I would prefer that those source data files would be password protected but is there a way I can store later those password in the big spreadsheet?

Meaning it would be a problem entering all those passwords everytime the file is being open.

Don't think it can be done. My guess is that MS figures if you used a password, then it would be easy to hack if they let you store it in a different spreadsheet like that.

Another option is to make worksheets be hidden (Format/Sheet/Hide). Very hard for users to mess up what they don't see.

Ah ha! You can do it in a macro. Read about "open method" relating to workbooks.

    Thanks!
OK so this will be the first time I will be writing macro Will try to work on it later.

    but questions are coming immediately:
    1. how would look the main phrase do you think? sth like this?:
    open(filename, password)
and that for all the files ?

    2. and the filename should include full path? (normally it;s not needed because fiels are in the same folder)

    3. can I perhaps record a macro when opening a file ?
    4. and then how do I run it while the file is being open ?
