Find Latest Date/Year Within a Column/Range of Dates

Sorry, I'll change the title if anyone has a suggestion.

    I have a row of columns starting from B1- 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006 and so on.
Every year I need to insert a new column so B1 would now be 2010, C1 2009, etc.

I need to somehow reference the last year that "has something" in it in any given row to column A. I have 100's of rows so I'm looking to avoid manually going in and finding the last date (cell with content).

I can't wrap my mind around this one. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

There are a few approaches, one might be:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
but this is not good performance wise... keep ranges (ie B2:Z1000 to a minimum) ... perhaps consider using a Dynamic Named Range ? (see link in sig.)
