Question Function to Group Like Rows???

Hi All - Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a database where each row is a segment of a pipeline. I want to insert a column that will allow me to indicated which rows belong to the same continuous line.

I have the starting point and ending point for each segment, so I am able to match a segment's ending point to the corresponding starting point of the next segment, but can not figure out how to repeat this multiple times for ~17,000 rows. Is this possible???

I have attached a small sample of what I'm trying to do.

    THANKS!!!

Not really - Basically I'm trying to piece together a chain. I have the start point and the end point, and I'm trying to connect those in a way that will allow me to mark which "chain" a row belongs to.

Re: Function to Group Like Rows???

they go both ways (wink wink) which makes it impossible to track in a single direction - if we reordered the O&D pairs so they're alphabetical then it would be easy to build a chain - is that OK?

    EDIT

More to the point - lots of your points go to more than one other point, with the given solution (no offence CB) you're going to lose a great deal of information

No offense taken. I hadn't noticed that fact. Truth is truth.
