Excel and FTP

Hi

I have 3 people that needs to have access to the same Excel file.

I do this by saving the file oin an FTP server.

My question is, if person1 opens then file, how can I make sure that the file is not overwritten when person2 saves it?

Can person2 get a message saying that the file is allready open or something?

Conflicting changes between users:

1. ask me which change win or
2. the changes being saved win

(you choose between 2 mode)

Thanks for the link. But there is nothing there about sharing over the internet (FTP)

If you can't use the built-in sharing capability, then put it in a CM system. Anyone trying to check in an older version with revisions will have the option to reconcile changes, or save anyway. Either way, all checked-in versions will be available in perpetuity.

I need this to work over the internet. I have a FTP server running. I thourght I could just save to FTP, but that makes it possible for to users to have the doc open at the same time, and save.

I don't need sharing possibilitys. I just need the doc to open as read only to the 2 person that opens it.
