    Countif/ nested if troubles

    Hello

I have a table in the format shown below:

    A B C D
1 Term School Take up Pending?
    2 Autumn A Yes No
    3 Autumn A No No
    4 Autumn A Yes No
    5 Autumn B No No
    6 Spring B Yes No
    7 Spring A Yes Yes
    8 Summer B No No

I am trying to count the total take-up for each school, in each term where column C = Yes and column D is =no.

I have tried countif with nested if statements but I keep getting errors. Do I need to use an array formula?

I would really appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks

    Nik

In formula terms without use of helpers you're looking at SUMPRODUCT or CSE Array, yes, eg:

However it would I think make more sense to use a Pivot Table, see attached, given it offers greater flexibility and will invariably prove more efficient in the long term.
