Payroll Input Query: Lookup Function Required?

    Hi,

I'm typing this on my flatmate's laptop which unfortunately doesn't have Excel installed so i've tried to explain my problem in jpg format below:

Please note that the example has been simplified.

    =Index($A$1:$E$6,Match(X1,$A$1:$A$6,0),Match(Y1,$A$1:$E$1,0))

where A1:E6 contains your original table and X1 and Y1 are first 2 items to match and return intersection.

    formula copied down
Where there is a will there are many ways.
