    Question custom date and time weighted average!!

    Hi guys

    I've the following problem.

    I've two cells each one has a custom defined date and time format. That is date & time in each cell... the data in each cell is an average of a number of other cells(exactly average of another 3 cells)

    I'm looking to get a weighted average on the two new cells

    the example I've is:
    Cell D1: 02/02/2000 00:33
    Cell D2: 01/02/2000 23:03

    the weighted average I'm trying to use is
    Cell D3= (D1*3)*(D2*3)/6

    the 3 is basically the number of data cells that has been averaged in the first step.

    Now the problem I'm getting is that excell is displaying ############ and saying negative date and time are displayed as ######

    any thoughts?

    thanks

    Maybe =(d1 + d2)/2

    it is not the formula that I want to change... what you are suggesting is not really taking into consideration the weights.... I want to know how to make the cell show the right results.....

    Not entirely sure I follow but perhaps:

    =((D1*3)+(D2*3))/6
