format time entry

I want to be able to type a 24 hour time into the column and have it format with colons - for example:

I want to type 123456 and have it show up as 12:34:56

Can anyone help??

This custom format will make it appear the way you want...

##":"##":"##

or

##\:##\:##

But this doesn't make it a true time entry...

... for that you would need to use a formula in adjacent cell

=TEXT(A1,"##\:##\:##")+0 formatted as time (hh:mm:ss)

Just below the word Title you will see a dropdown with the word No prefix.
Change to Solved
Click Save
