Format a specific cells background colour permanently

Is there a way to permantely fix a specific column or row of cells so the background colour does not change even if I paste or cut to/from these cells?

I've tried Conditonal Formatting but this relies on a value. Where as the Style function changes formats for the whole worksheet.

    Thanks

    Hi,

if you cut a cell, it will be cut completely. Try copy instead and delete the cell's data in a second step.

If you paste into a cell and want to retain the current format, use Paste Special - Values or Paste Special - Formulas, then the format will not be changed.

Thansk Teylyn - is there anyway to preformat the cells so the user doesnt have to Paste special? (Im trying to minimise user error by reducing the amount of steps involved in pasting values in to this calculation spreadhseet Im working on).

Hmmm... It would be possible to create a macro button that uses the correct Paste Special command, but the user would still be able to use CTRL-V or Edit - Paste instead of the button.

I'd bank on user training and education
