    Undo Save?

I have an Excel 2007 file,

I use it for my pool testing logs.
It's a monthly log, and I have started a new log for november. I cleared all the values and accidentally saved over Octobers log.

Is there anyway I can get this back?
    I haven't closed excelet.
I can't use the undo feature for some reason. I see the downdown.
I used the developer tools to create some fill in boxes when i created this file.
When I use the undo feature is just puts a cursor in the box which was the last thing I cleared.

Is there any way I can skip that?

The old file is still there, until you save something else that overwrites it. You could buy some file recovery software and try to find it.

You say until something over writes it..
But "I cleared all the values and accidentally saved over Octobers log"

Do you have any recommendations on software to purchase? OR am I out of luck? Is there a way to skip over the Undo part that seems to be stuck?

    Re: Undo Save?

When files are saved, they are saved to a new file with a temporary name, the new file is verified, the old file is deleted, and the new file is renamed. The disk space for the old file is freed, and available to be overwritten. Until then, it's still potentially recoverable.

No, I have no particular suggestion for software. Google file recovery.

    Re: Undo Save?

I've downloaded a few recovery tools, and just by looking at file dates nothing looks even remotely close to an excel file or temp file.

So, I'm wondering if there is a way to use the undo feature. I can see the last 43 steps of changed in the undo dropdown.
But the last one I did it where is seems to be hanging up on. Is there a way to "delete" that undo step and continue on with the rest?

    Re: Undo Save?

When a workbook is saved, the Undo buffer gets flushed. If you can't find the original file on disk, I think it's toast.

If it were really critically important (and mysteriously, not backed up), I'd pull the disk drive and move it to another machine to hunt for it, so Windows doesn't overwrite the file while you're doing other stuff.
