Matching Numbers in 2 columns

Bascially I have two sets of data. One set contains the ID number of an indusrty and the industry description. The other contains the ID number and the company name. I need to use the ID Number to copy the industy description to the second set of data. I think you might be able to use a lookup function for this but I am just beinning to get into those types of functions in excel. Can anyone assist? Also can anyone reccommend any books or articles so that I may learn to formulate these functions myself and be a contirbuter?

and copy it down as far as you need

in F2 type =VLOOKUP(E:E,A:B,2,0) and drag the formula down to F14.

re study materials, there are online tutorials, I like this one http://www.functionx.com/vbaexcel/ but best just to hang around here, you'll learn more from the guys that any tutorial. if you have any problems just post them and soon you will be able to solve some of the easier ones at least
