Writing a formula that references a column (length), and then multiplies it by a set price

Pretty self explanatory in the title. I already have a column that has the length in inches for a list of products, I just need to make a new column that updates the price of all of them.

I don't have the price per inch included in the spreadsheet that I need updated, but it's in a different sheet in case you need to write a formula using a different cell reference. The spreadsheet I need updated has separate columns that include the entire description of the product//the thickness//the width//and the length. All I have to do is reference the length for now, but eventually I'll have to reference the width as well.

Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

Ha I might've asked this too soon. I tried...

=(f2:f74*.088) and it seems to work. Now I guess a new problem would be, there are thousands of pieces, and this formula only covers <100 at a time. Any way to include a reference to the width and various other price per inch settings inside one formula?

Re: Writing a formula that references a column (length), and then multiplies it by a set p

So instead of making a new thread, I figured I'd bump up this old one.

It turns out the formulas I was writing were all incorrect. Over 3,000 pieces have been assigned the wrong prices. Needless to say, time is precious.

Basically, I have the "x" value for certain lengths, and need to know how to apply this value in a formula. Where I made my problem was multiplying this "x" value by the length in inches, thinking that the prices of the products would be different based on each inch marker. I was way off. Each piece is the same price when they are within at least two feet of width. This is what each entry looks like....

Thickness Width Length in inches Price
    LUG,2X2"X1'3" 2 2 15 ?

The price for this piece would be the cost of a 2x4x2, because that is the smallest product that could be cut to fit the desired dimensions.

If I haven't lost you, please help!

I need to create a bunch of formulas that apply to different lengths in feet.

    Hi.

I think you need to attach an actual workbook with several realistic and varied examples, indicating clearly your expected result in each case.
