    opening workbooks automatically

At work I store the workbooks that I use on a daily basis stored in a sub-directory on the company network (F: ).

My Excel is set up to go to this sub-directory and open the files stored there when I start Excel in the morning.

The problem is that sometimes I have to work on these Excel files at home. I send the relevant files to my E-mail or physically transport them on a memory stick.

The problem arises the next day when I transport the files back to my office.
I download the files and save them in my start-up sub-directory on F:
I am asked whether to replace the existing file and I answer "yes".

When I then open Excel, these files do not open automatically.

I realize that this is a problem with the pointers. The pointers are pointing to the old files that have since been replaced by the updated files. The pointer is essentially pointing to a file that no longer exists, so it does not open.

Of course, the updated file exists, having been saved on F:
I manually go to F: to open those files.

Is there a way to set this up so that the updated files open automatically?

    Thanks,

    Sholom

    Re: opening workbooks automatically

How are you making excel open your files? I've tried to replicate your problem by setting excel to open all files in a folder on startup by using Tools - Options - General - At startup open all files in - ............ This works correctly every time.
