    Re: Total field in Pivot

    Hi,

This is the default name that's automatically created to let you know that it is summing the fields you've named January 2009, February 2009 etc.

If you want to change this, right click in the PT in each column in turn, select 'Field Settings' and change the Name to something else. Note that you can't use exactly the same name as the PTs field name. So for instance if you do want just January 2009 you'll need to add a trailing space. i.e. "January 2009 "

thanks to you all for attending. however my query is somewhat different. in pivot sheet you will find column K named "Sum of Total CM1" which is missing in "raw" sheet!!

I have no issue with January, February ... but surprised to see how this column appeared. have searched google and other sources but honestly no such solution.

and i do not have knowledge of VBA. now I am attaching the original file. can u please check now to help plsssss

Please re-read what Donkey said. He pointed out that this was a calculated field which has been added to the pivot table. It does not exist in the Raw data sheet. That's the whole point of calculated fields.

Click in the PT, choose Insert, Select calculated field and click the drop down name box and you'll see your CM1 name.

Extremely sorry for violating the rule due my unawareness. I did two mistake, 1. posted before reading forum rule 2. Violated the rule, and really feeling shy much.

I beg pardon to all who spent their valuable time even though it has already been solved. Already provided the link to other forum as Donkey advised.

Going forward surely will adhere to forum rule accordingly.

    Sorry again for the mistake.
