Validating Lists with associated data

Hi

I want to use excel to valid a range from another worksheet (Employee) and allow as a drop down box.

The range of employees each have a number next to them so:
A_____________B
Employee______Rating
Employee 1_____5
Employee 2_____3
Employee 3_____8
Employee 4_____2

.... and so on.

So I can validate and allow for a drop down box for the employee but I don't then know how I can then bring their rating number across with it, so that the rating occupies the next cell along from the validating cell.

Yes, thanks. Both work as I want them to although I note the difference is one uses a range and the other specifies the data.

Can you just explain in the context how the vlookup funciton operates?

Also can I lock the auto populated rating cell so that a/ the code cannot be overwritten and can only include the correct figure?
