    "hidden" cells

    Hi

I've found an error in someone's excel file and a need to change the content of a cell. Unfortunately, I am unable to access the cell.

The name of the sheet is Key results, and the location of the cell I need to modify is 'Key results'!$AA$10
If I put ='Key results'!$AA$10 in a random cell in the key results sheet, the value of that cell is returned and excel suggest that the cell is somewhere at the right of my sheet. I am unable to access it. I tried to 'unhide columns' etc but that doesn't seem to help.

Anyone familiar with this kind of problem?
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

    welcome to the forum!

excel suggest that the cell is somewhere at the right of my sheet
    How does that manifest?

Can you see column AA or is it hidden?

Select column Z to AB or whatever is to the right of Z and unhide. What do you see?

    Re: "hidden" cells

Thank you for the quick reply.

    How does that manifest?
If I select the ='Key results'!$AA$10 cell, excel highlights the border of my sheet (see attachment), suggesting that cell AA10 is somewhere at the right (which makes sense).

I can't see column AA because I can't move further than column Y (so I can't select column A to Z). The column are not just hidden, otherwise I could use the format-column-unhide function.
It's maybe important to note that the excelfile is some kind of report, and therefore the data columns are not displayed.

What happens if you select the last visible column in the spreadsheet, then hit Ctrl-right arrow, right-click and select "unhide"?

    Re: "hidden" cells

If I am in a cell in the last visible column and click on the right arrow, or Ctrl-right arrow, nothing happens because it can't move any further. Hence, unhide is not displayed when I right click.
I remember that someone else at my office had a similar problem and he managed to display the data. I reckon that the excelfile is now in some kind of report template/mode and I have to switch back to the regular excel display. (e.g. the column headers (A B C etc) are not displayed as well, so I cant select entire columns)

    Try selecting the entire sheet.
The square Above the row 1 header and to the left of the column A header, selects the entire worksheet, click it and the worksheet should be highlited.

Press Ctrl+Shift+zero to unhide any hidden columns.
