Excel 2007 : multiple colums under a single column

How can I do that in Excel? There are columns beneath columns. Or is there a better way to accomplish this?

In Excel, there are no splits where one column goes under another. Each column goes from the top of the worksheet to the bottom. Could you please post a sample workbook and explain your problem in far more detail?

Maybe you have seen cells merged across several columns, so that two or more columns appear to have one header.

Merging cells is not a good idea, because it can lead to all kinds of trouble with sorting/filtering/copying and some formulas.

If you want text to run across several columns, put the text in the first column, then select that cell and the ones next to it and format it to Center across selection.
