Macro Menu Greyed Out

I was answering a post about security settings and wanted to make sure I was getting my steps right, tools=>Macros then wait, Macro is greyed out.

Searching the web and this forum, the topic has come up a few times, with no real solutions.

I have no idea when it happened, I can't remember the last time I was in the tools menu.

I reset the tolbars, XL still opened with the macro greyed out. I unselected the add-ins, which is just analysis tool pack, morefunc, and '07 converter, closed,opened still greyed out so it is not the add-ins causing this. Personal Workbook is empty as well.

Everything in the Visual Basics toolbar works as it should.

Anyway to reset this?

Dave,

The only time I've had this happen is when using a shared workbook, or when a macro is already running. Don't know if either of these are the issue?
