Angry Compatibility issues-What about binary files?

I am getting very discouraged with Excel 2007! The whole process of opening, saving & closing files is driving me nuts because it is taking so long! Is it better that I convert all my files to 2007? The trouble with this is that they are no good to colleagues with 2003. Even after I have opened a file and worked with it in 2007, and saved it in 2007 format, it still takes ages to open and save again.

What about binary files? Is there any problem with this format? I have a few large files that I converted to binary, but they are still working slowly.

Somebody please help before I chuck 2007 and go back to 2003!!!

It has to do with DDE, this works most of the time. You can use this technique with all 07 file types.

This fix did not work - actually, it started screwing things up, so I had to do a system restore.

Does anyone else have ideas for efficiently using 2003 files in 2007?
