    analogous:Drop Down List

Can I set up a drop down list (either through data validation or a VBA combo box) so that when the user begins typing the entry it goes to the item beginning with that? I'm thinking of something analogous to a drop down list on a web-based form. My google searches aren't turning up what I need. Thanks in advance.

the only way to set up a drop down box that will autocomplete is to use the control found on the Control Toolbox toolbar. This is harder to control than its counterpart on the Forms toolbar, but will give you the functionality you require.

Just make sure that on the properties of the combobox, MatchEntry is set to 1 or 2, not zero. I think that 1 is set by default.

Thank you for reminding of the rules, I will post this as a new thread with link. FWT

I am relatively new to excel, but have been trying many different and new things as I read about them in the forums here. Unfortunately I don't understand dominicb's response.

I would like to do something similar to wiL with an employee drop down list. As the user begins to type the name, the drop down would narrow the choices alphabetically or the user could select the drop down list then hit the first letter of the name and go to that letter of the list (i.e. selecting "M" to go to the portion of the list that starts with "M")
