Vlookup Question-how do I manage the Vlookup?

Hi, I am trying to do a Vlookup from Doc A to Doc B. I have that sorted out. However, if Doc A changes, how do I manage the Vlookup?

The number of columns and the placement of columns won't change. Neither will the document name. However, the number of rows within doc A may change and so may the value within each cell.

I presume that the changing value of the cells will be fine, but how do I manage the number of rows changing?

    Thanks

You can make a vlookup refer to entire columnes, like =vlookup(A1,A:C,3)

Thank you, I'll try that. I guess I was overthinking the solution. It is obviously a lot easier than I thought.

I have another question about this project.

So I have Doc B, which is my main document with the Vlookup functions and Doc A which has the data my Vlookup is combing through.

If I replace Doc A with another spreadsheet called Doc A, will it work?

    Thanks again.

If you oversave it, it should do, but it would need to be arranged the same.

    Perfect, thank you.

I have one final question, I promise.

As I'm working on these two documents, I'm seeing quite a few possibilities, I have found solutions for almost all (thanks to you) except one.

Can I use Vlookup to insert an image into a cell? Currently, my vlookup pulls through the address of an image.

Thank you again for saving me hours of research and teaching me some really cool new things.

No, you would need to use code (VBA) to put images in. Without code, the nearest I could suggest would be setting a sheet background (alt+o, h, b - please reference your excel version in your user control panel) and use conditional formatting to cover/uncover it. I won't discuss this further here, as the forum principle is one question per-thread (makes it easier to search for answers).
