    Trying To Make Percentages

    Hi,

    I have a spreadsheet , it contains my daily backups that i run , i have quite a few , im trying to determine whether they basically pass or fail,

    there was on used years back but it is pretty defunct now ,

    I basically just want

    1 = 100%
    2= 0%

    So 1 = pass
    2 = fail

    and hopefully a percentage bar that will update with this,

    hopefully you guys can help, im using 2007 btw

    Cheers,

    hello.

    I personally dont see what you are trying to do.
    what backups are you doing, are you backing up information to excel or using a stand alone excecuitbale and using excel it to store output information of the backup (date,time,files).

    cheers

    Re: Trying To Make Percentages

    im just trying to make it as basic as possible,

    It's server backups , but i keep whether they have passed or failed that day in this spreadhseet , im not trying to import or anything like that , ill look at the server and see if it has passed , if so ill type a number 1 in to the spreadsheet which will , in turn , make it basically pass, =100%.

    its just to keep a record of it.

    Re: Trying To Make Percentages

    So the spreadsheet look like
    02/01/2010, 100%
    03/01/2010, 0%
    just type 1 or 0 and cell format to Percentage (a percentage being a fraction between 0 and 1)

    or
    02/01/2010, Pass
    03/01/2010, Fail

    This is more dificult with cell format. Go to Custom format and type this
    [>=0.5]"Pass";[<0.5]"Fail";"";""

    Now all values <0.5 will show Fail. All value >=0.5 will show Pass

    Re: Trying To Make Percentages

    I think rwgrietveld may better undestand what you are after. I was thining of using antohter column like =IF(A1<>"",(IF(A1=1,"100%","0%")),"")
    =IF(A1<>"",(IF(A1=1,"Pass","Fail")),"")

    cheers.

    Re: Trying To Make Percentages

    Perhaps this simpler number format if the values are 1 or 0

    "Pass";;"Fail"

    Positive values are Pass
    Negative not shown
    Zero values are Fail
    Cheers
