Using COUNTIF based on a date range

What I want to do is use a countif formula based on a date range that is entered in another cell(s).

This is going to be used for tracking attendance based on letter abbreviations entered in a row for that employee.

I have a sample attached and need help creating this formula.

    thanks for any help,
    Nick

Given use of XL2007 - assuming you want formulae for C16:L95 etc

That said you may be better served storing the column values of the dates in 2 cells and using standard COUNTIF with INDEX.

    Hi,

In C16 (which should be formatted to show a number), and copied across to L16 and down,

Thanks DonkeyOte, worked just like I needed it.

I was trying to work out what you were saying here:

"That said you may be better served storing the column values of the dates in 2 cells and using standard COUNTIF with INDEX."

If I visually saw it I am sure I would understand, but what you gave me worked just like needed.

    thanks,
    Nick
