Re: Need help intalling and editing a document

    Hi,

If it's a scanned document (presumably with a .bmp, .tif, .jpg etc. extension) then to Excel, (or indeed any other software) the file is essentially a picture file and there's little you can do to use the data it contains.

If you have some OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software then you could process the scanned file and convert it back to a text file. Usually this is not 100% perfect since depending on the clarity of the scanned document not all text will be recognised.

Can you not get access to the original .txt or perhaps .prn file rather than an image of it? If you can you can open this as a file, copy the data into Excel, then use Excel's Text to Columns parsing feature.

    Thanks for the comeback Richard
I'll see about getting a file convertion software tool of some sort because I don't have
access to the original file, but I do know how to make the document from scratch, but its a bit large so it will take a bit of time, but it's doable, and thanks again for taking the time to answer my post.Raner

    Hi,

There seem to be several shareware OCR software programs around - just Google OCR Shareware software. Hopefully you could use one of those to create a readable txt document which you can then plug into Excel.

    Regards
