I know the vast majority of this forum is devoted to assistance with spreadsheet functions, but I've got other issues right now. My discussions with Microsoft indicate that they "have never heard of this problem before".

I've been having problems with Excel 2007 crashing ever since I started using it 2 years ago. I'm using Vista operating system and have 4 gigs of RAM. Many times when I have a spreadsheet over aoubt 30,000 rows (which I dont consider terribly large), it freezes on me when doing the simplest of operations. Usually, my my data has no formulas in it - it's just values and text.

Inserting and deleting columns seems to be one of its biggest buggaboos, but often simply selecting a contiguous range of cells (like 50,000 or so) can make it lock up. I simply get the message that "program is not responding". Surprisingly, enormous pivot tables or lookup operations don't seem to be a problem.

Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions? - Thanks
