    march ncaa style bracket selection

    hello

im looking to get some guidance or thought behind a contest. im looking to setup a march madness type contest where sales ppl r seeded according to the revenue they generate.

our workforce is 180 ppl that im monitoring. based on that number and a 8 week cycle, mathematically, it does not make sense as by week 5 or so, there will be 0.5 of a person qualifying.

128 ppl works best, however it will also make some ppl upset that they havent been fairly told or the the standing or criteria of top 128 is not fair.

does anynoe have any suggestions? pls and thx u...much appreciated!

    Hi,

Why not make it a 256 draw and have a few matches qualify to get into the full 128 draw?
180 - 128 = 52 ppl need to beat someone else to make it to the 128 round.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

    hello marvin,

so how would the 180-128...the 52 ppl remaining qualify?
the qualification criteria is based on i.e. $300 rev/week they generate.

if for instance 128 ppl are qualifying, how can the 52 ppl compete? thxs for your input and help!

You have 180 but you need 128 to be a power of two, and a good draw sheet. You have 52 people too many. You create 52 matches/games where a single person wins. The person who wins gets put in the main 128 draw and the 52 who lose are out of the tournament. I'd make 26 matches on the top half and 26 on the bottom half, "qualifying rounds". Then 13 in the top quarter be qualifying.. etc.

It just looks like you have a 256 draw with 76 Byes in the first round.
