    Copy/Pasting Column Not Working

This seems like it is so stupid and easy to do but I cannot think of anything right now. I tried copy/pasting. And even copy, and paste spcial(with every special paste) and cannot get this.

I'm using Excel 2007. I have a list of Vendors with the amounts of checks we have sent out. I'm trying to find a "total spend for each vendor" from this past year. I was hoping a simple Subtotal, and then copy/paste values or something like that would work.

    Example:

    Vendor Name Amount
    Owl Jolson 144
    Owl Jolson 34577
    Owl Jolson 324234
    George Jetson 15
    Ginger Rogers 3
    Ginger Rogers 565
    Ginger Rogers 5345
    **** Tracy 744

Subtotaling by the amount(To get a listing of the vendor once, along with the total payment amount), and then copy/pasting doesn't get me them. I'm trying to get the vendor name, and then the total spend of each vendor.

    Apparently my shortcuts suck

Try inserting a pivot table with the Vender Names in Row Labels and Amounts in SUM Values. Does that work for you?

I guess I should have mentioned that I have their vendor number in another column as well(I didn't think that it could make a difference). So it would look like:

    Vendor Number Vendor Name Amount
    456 Owl Jolson 144
    456 Owl Jolson 34577
    456 Owl Jolson 324234
    1432 George Jetson 15
    2708 Ginger Rogers 3
    2708 Ginger Rogers 565
    2708 Ginger Rogers 5345
    8741 Tom Tracy 744

I'd like to have the vendor number present as well, next to the vendor name.

After you move the vender name to Row Labels in the pivot table, do the same for the vender #. I attached your example with a pivot table. Will this work for you?

Is there a way to sort by the amount, in ascending order as well?
