Alternative to using VLOOKUP with identical cells values

I am going to have identical cell values and when using VLOOKUP when two cells have the same date VLOOKUP is returning incorrect data.

I attached a sample, I was wondering if there is another way to go about this.

    I appreciate any help.

    thanks,
    Nick

I think we discussed this possibility on the prior thread didn't we ... yes things become a little more complex.

Can we assume the combination of Date & Type will always be unique ?

    If so:

If not realistically (without helpers) you would need to use an Array however this would mean first dispensing with the merged cells you're using in Y:AM ... eg:

the best route though IMO would be to hold a count of date on Acknowledgements sheet, eg:

    then on Employee Summary sheet

in all cases - adjust ranges to suit.
