Missing tooltip?

Hi people!

I have attached a screen shot of vlookup formula. Whilst selecting a range a little tooltip comes up showing how many rows and columns have been selected (6R x 2C) ...

... at least that's what used to happen. Now this handy tool tip does not show on my PC - and I have no idea how I turned it off, or more importantly how I can turn it back on again.

I am running Excel 2002 SP3 on Windows XP.

Tools > Options > General > Function tooltips.

I have checked, and the "Function tooltips" option is on.

I have attached a second screen shot showing what happens in my Excel currently... you can see that the vlookup function tooltip is there, but the range row and column count tooltip is not.

Ah ok. I'm not sure that ever stays on screen after you click elsewhere. Do you think it does?

Once you let go the mouse button after select the range, it will disappear...

I don't think there is a separate option to turn that part off/on automatically.

I am not getting the rows and columns tool tip at all on my machine, even though I do get it on my work mates.

I found it!

When you customise a toolbar, on the third tab there is another option for "ScreenTips"

When this is selected I get the rows and columns tips back.

Thanks for posting the solution.. to tell you the truth I never really payed attention to that before your posting and had to see for myself.. couldn't figure out what it was called.. tried googling too...
