adding custom button to quick access toolbar

I just entered the world of excel 2007 (and win7) kicking and screaming.

I have a macro that I want to add as a button on the quick access toolbar. I would want this macro to be available from the QATB (is that what yall call it?) anytime that I open excel.

How would I go about doing this? BTW - it doesnt really matter where the button is located just as long as I can have super fast access to this macro (actually I have many many I want to add).

Welcome to the world of Office 2007

    1) Click on the 'Office button' (top left)
    2) Click on 'Excel Options' (bottom of menu)
    3) Click on 'Customize'
    4) Change from the pull down menu where it says 'Choose commands from'
    5) Choose Macros
    6) Add the Macros you created.
    7) Click 'OK' and they will show up at the top, on the Quick Access bar.

    Hope that helps.
    Happy Excel'ing!

    that was shockingly easy. thanks.

unfortunately after closing excel those macros disappeared. the icons are still available in the toolbar, but they do not tie to any macro.

That's probably because the macros were tied to your current workbook, you need to have them saved inside the 'personal.xlsb'. That is a hidden workbook. So infront of your macro name, when you open up the macro popup, it should have personal.xlsb! in front of the name you made (only if personal.xlsb is still hidden).

So you may need to edit you macro (through VB) and save it in the personal.xlsb/module1.

Just FYI, to customise the QAT, there is a little dropdown to the right of it that takes you straight into the Customize dialog, rather than having to go through Excel Options.
