Return blocks of info from one sheet to another

    Hey there -

I'm not normally this dumb; I can usually work out what I want to do by reading up on what others have tried, but either this hasn;t been covered, or I'm especially stupid today. (If I were a betting man, I'd put money on the latter.)

I've got a workbook in which the user pastes a bunch of information into the first sheet, and latter sheets do various things. The first step I'd like to do, and which I can't figure out, is how to divide that information on Sheet1 into two separated block of information on the second sheet. (I've attached an example sheet that may explain things a little better.) Basically, it will require the second sheet to determine column headers (which could be pasted in initally is a variety of orders), the use a RIGHT(1) to determine which subsets go itno which blocks on Sheet2. At least, that's as far as I've figured.

I'm betting that the best way to do it would be with a pivot table, but I admit that I don't have much experience with them (though I'm slowly learning - they just don't make intuitive sense to me yet, so it's slow going!)...and pivot tables certainly aren't a necessity.

    Any help appreciated.

    Gunther Maplethorpe,

Does Sheet1 always have the below titles in row 1 (but in a different order), plus other titles?

    Id numeric
    Sample name

Yes, at a minimum those titles (and many more, in fact) with always be there, and yes, frequently in a different order.

I should have stated - I'm very limited in my use of macros, as these worksheets are not run in native Excel, but are run through a shell of a different program, which results in macros being very unstable. (You may have noticed a couple other macros in there, but I'm getting rid of them, too.)

Is there a way to accomplish this without hte use of macros? Something formula-based, or possibly a pivot table?
