    summing visible cells only

Is there a way to only sum the visible cells in a column that contains subtotalling or otherwise contains many hidden rows that should not be included in the sum?

Have a look at the SUBTOTAL function... you can sum hidden by filter rows and/or hidded manually rows..
Where there is a will there are many ways.
