    IF function

so a friend of mine has a homework assignment for her computer class. It's basically calculating advertisement costs. So I have the data and such and the teacher even gave the formula to enter to calculate the costs which is "=IF(Table1[[#This Row],[Run Ad]]="Y", Table1[[#This Row],[Total Inches]]*$A$9, 0)"

However, the formula isn't working at all, and I'm struggling to find any errors or necessary corrections for it...help? I can send the data if necessary also

    Re: IF function

When you say "it's not working at all" - what exactly do you mean ?

We are I presume to accept that :

    a) you have a Table called Table1

    b) Table1 contains columns Run Ad and Total Inches

If as you say you can post a sample - please do so and outline which cell(s) we should be looking at & the expected results etc...

Hi Sarah_c, welcome to the forum.

I'd recommend that your "friend" upload a copy of the workbook, but know that many of the volunteers aren't keen on doing homework for students. Some kind soul may assist, so it can't hurt.
